Italian Muffuletta

I have a weakness for Italian sandwiches.  Especially if they have lots of peppers and olives on them.  This one takes the cake!  This would be great to make in bulk for a party.

Ingredients:  round italian bread loaf, olive oil, green pimento stuffed olives, ripe black olives, parsley, dried oregano, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, lemon juice, garlic, salami, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers and sliced banana peppers.

Chop up the olives and parsley.  Mince the garlic.  Add it to a mixing bowl with the olive oil, oregano, pepper, red pepper and lemon juice.

Stir to combine.

Slice the bread in half horizontally and scoop out the insides leaving a 1/2" shell.  The easiest way to do this is with your hands.

Spread half of the olive mixture into the bottom of the bread shell.

Layer with the salami.

Then the provolone.

Then the red peppers.

And the banana peppers.

And the pepperoni.

Spread the other half of the olive mixture in the top part of the bread shell.

And cover the rest of the sandwich with the top shell.

Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.  Cut it into wedges and it's ready to serve.

Now that's a sexy sandwich!

Note:  I used provolone cheese instead of mozzarella and olive oil instead of canola oil.
