Baked S'mores
I looooooooovvvvee S'mores! My family does alot of camping in the spring and fall and we always make S'mores. This recipe is almost as good as the real thing (although nothing can replace the wonder that is a toasted marshmallow cooked over a real campfire). This is one of the many S'more inspired recipes that are floating around on Pinterest. I just had to try it...and I'm so glad I did.
Ingredients: butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg, vanilla, flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, salt, milk chocolate and marshmallow creme.
Add the softened butter and the sugars to the bowl of a mixer.
Cream it together on medium speed until smooth.
Beat in the egg and vanilla until well incorporated.
In a separate bowl, add the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder and salt.
And whisk it together.
Add it to the batter with the mixer running on low speed.
And mix it until it comes together like dough.
Divide the dough in half and press one half of it into the bottom of a greased brownie pan.
Then layer the chocolate bars. Typically I would just use Hershey's chocolate, but I accidentally misread the recipe and only bought 1/2 of the chocolate I needed :P Luckily I had some extra milk chocolate on hand!
Then spread the marshmallow creme over the chocolate. This is tricky because it is so sticky. I ended up using a knife to smooth it to the edges.
To get the other half of the dough over the marshmallow layer, put it in a gallon sized Ziploc bag and press it out to roughly the size of the brownie pan.
Then cut the bag open with kitchen shears so that it opens up like a book; the bottom should still be stuck to the bag.
Grab it by the bottom and carefully place it on top of the marshmallow layer.
Peel back the bag and gently press out the edges to the sides of the pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until the top is golden and the chocolate is melted. Let it cool completely or you'll have a big ole mess when you cut into it.
Yummmmm! Who doesn't love a S'more?
